Abstract：
姓名不仅能够作为个人的代号,而且具有深刻的文化内涵,是一个国家和社会风俗文化的反映.中英姓名在寄托愿望、男女有别、特定指称意义等五个方面有一定的相似性,但在出现时间、排列顺序、产生方式和体现的价值观等七个方面又有极大的差异.探究中英姓名文化的异同,并将其应用于给留学生起中文名,能够在一定程度上更好地服务于对外汉语教学.
