非英语专业大学生对外来语言的了解和使用，更多情况下更加依赖于“意义”。而针对英语作文中介词IN的语义使用情况到研究，应能对具体的语义分类建立正确的认识。在此基础上，能在认知语言学理论、母语思维、高频语义使用情况等进行全方位的分析。
