    Abstract：

    “苕”在武汉话中指“红薯”，亦有“呆傻、蠢笨”义，有的著作、文献中也写作“韶”。本文通过分析“韶”、“苕”二字，认为武汉话中表示红薯的这个字，写为“苕”更合适。同时本文对“苕”表示“呆傻、蠢笨”义的原因进行了分析。
