游戏教学法将趣味性、互动性和竞争性融入小学体育教学中，激发学生的参与积极性，并提高教学效果。该方法不仅培养学生的体育技能，还能促进团队合作和竞争意识的发展。在应用过程中，应注重安全管理、尊重学生个体差异，并确保教学公平。并采用游戏融入课前准备、巧妙设置分组竞赛、运用分层设计和强调合作类游戏等策略，来提升学生的体能、合作能力与综合素质，实现教学目标。
